A Feel-Good Dress – Hope For Emilia

Molichino’s Pixie dress is such a “feel-good” dress for several reasons.  First, since Pixie is a Hope for Emilia offering,  your shopping dollars are raising funds to help Italy’s earthquake victims.  Second, I have found you simply can’t go anywhere with this dress on and not get attention and compliments.  Pixie is so well made, with quality linen, stitched seam details, and a girlish shape.  It is casual, chic and classy.

I have found the Hope for Emilia posts for Molichino’s offering wonderfully varied, as well.  It is a real testament to the versatility of this dress, as you can dress it up or down and play with many accessory accent colors.  I love clothes that let me be creative, and become new all over again, depending on the accessories I add.  Molichino’s Pixie is that kind of dress.

I chose to add some color pops to the luscious gold version I’m wearing with a LaGyo hat, Finesmith necklace, and Molichino clutch in aqua hues.  Pixie is a dress you will find yourself reaching for again and again, so pop on over to Hope for Emilia to take home your favorite colors while helping a great cause.

Valkyrie – Westwood Tribute

Today I’m sharing a bit of iconic history in two forms.  First, Vivienne Westwood.  If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Westwood Tribute, and you love fashion and fashion history, you have only a couple of days left.  Westwood’s career has been dedicated to turning conventional fashion on its head.  It is truly all about the creativity.  Not only was I oohing and aahing over the many designer tribute items exclusive only to this event, but I found I gained an even further appreciation for the magnitude of Westwood’s influence in fashion and punk/rock styling culture after walking through the Tribute hall, very much like a museum, showcasing Vivienne Westwood’s creative genius and fashion legacy.

I used several Westwod tribute items from Lush Limited to create my second historical icon, my view of the legendary Valkyrie, the Norse warrior demi-goddesses who spirited the strongest and bravest fallen soldiers to Valhala.  Thanks to the Westwood influence, however, my Valkyrie has been a bit modernized.

First and foremost is the “stand-up and stand-out” Impale hair from Lush Limited.  Made out of gold and silver spikes and rings, it would work great for any kind of rock or punk theme, or for adding a touch of shiny danger to your avant looks.  It is like jewelry for your head, and a fitting headdress for my modern warrior woman.  Then, with a combination of Lush Limited and Madrid Solo makeups, my Valkyrie leaves an impression both glamorous, haunting, and truly iconic.  This is the new face of Norse mythology.

Belong on the cover of Vogue – MVW Day 3

On Day 3, the BIG DAY, of Miss Virtual World Academy, we were challenged to get inspired by a Vogue Cover and style as if we belonged on the cover of Vogue.

I spent a fair amount of time perusing Vogue covers to find that most of them had only a face shot.  Digging a bit further into the pages, I saw a trend towards feminine gowns this year, along with a fair amount of haute couture and avant garde.  I chose the lovely Leezu Adriana gown as my inspiration piece.  I love the interesting shape of the skirt, the modern dots, and the lovely sheen to the fabric. It further caught my eye because the wonderful shapes could lend themselves to some mix and match play in the future to create something one-of-a-kind, and I love multi-use outfits.

I accented it with pearl Donna Flora jewelry to echo the dots and combined two Amacci hairstyles into one formal updo.  With lovely White Widow makeup to finish my look, I was feeling very elegant and ready for my Vogue cover.

And the results….I did NOT pass Day 3 of MVW Academy.  My feedback, which I sought out following Day 3 was that, while I looked beautiful and I was on the right track, they did not feel they saw enough of my personality in my styling.  I suspect it would have been preferred for me to “make something new” with component pieces of several outfits or separates.  I also had a minor prim issue that I was unable to correct to my satisfaction, and this was also noted by the judges, as it effected my pose selection.

I am not daunted, by the way, that I did not graduate the first time around.  Many, in fact most, do not.  I have known excellent models in the industry who took 2, and even 3 times, to pass MVW Academy, and done exceptional work in the meantime.  So…I will be back for my own round 2 in the coming months, and hopefully doing some exceptional work myself in-between.

Style like you have 100K in your pocket – MVW Day 2

Assignment for Miss Virtual World Academy Day 2 – Chic Casual Modern Model. Imagine you were on 5th avenue with $100,000 to spend on an amazingly chic casual understated look.

So here I am….stopping traffic. I channeled my inner J-Lo and Kim Kardashian for this styling challenge.  Luxurious fabrics and accessories was what I was after, so I started with a skirt I had in inventory that I just love, love, love from Zaara, in a blend of ivory linen and swishy silk, with a belted, high-waist.  For a morning fresh look, I kept my blouse simple, feminine, and summery, selecting a scarf halter top in a lovely geometric print and soft colors from Leezu.

Of course I needed a purse to carry all my lindens and a spritz of expensive cologne before leaving the house (if you inhale deeply and use your imagination, I bet you can smell it right through the computer).  Then the first stop of the day was the booN salon, for a casually intricate updo to display my pretty earrings. Now I’m ready for 5th Avenue, with perhaps a scone and latte on the way to keep my energy up.

And…the results of MVW Day 2…..Frolic said he’d open his shop doors to me, but just barely (not quite what I’d expected, but he didn’t elaborate).  He said he loved the lips, it was much better.  Then….GASP….he called me CUTE!  Now, cute in the real world is a compliment.  Sadly, in much of the modeling world, it is NOT.  Models are to be glamourous or fierce, not cute.  Cute is only acceptable in the fashion industry when combined with attitude.  So, I will need to un-cute myself.

Modernly Organic

Even in charcoal, the sheen on Apple May’s mesh Day Time Maxi dress suggests brushed silk.  It makes you just want to reach out and fondle it.  This is a dress I want in RL, because I can imagine how soft it would feel brushing teasingly against my legs. Available in three lovely colors, this dress is undeniable comfort that makes me think of sunshine, bare feet and umbrella drinks.

In keeping with the organic theme, these pics were shot at Bazar Quality Homes and Furniture, where designer Ria Bazar creates the perfect blend of modern and organic.  I love her homes, with plenty of glass mixed in with natural woods, neutral tones, and water, water everywhere.  The feel is natural, airy, yet upscale and classy.  I just had to dip my Slink Tip Toes in one of her pools.

Nature even inspired my styling, as tree branches and birds adorn my UrbanLutz hair.  And since I was baring some skin to the sunshine, I thought what fun it would be to decorate it with henna tattoos from Lush Limited.

Soft, Fluffy and Flirty?

Soft, fluffy, and flirty? Yes, you can have all three.  We usually think of soft and fluffy as cute and cuddly, but this look certainly suggests otherwise.  Soft and fluffy starts with a Fur Bolero from Molichino.  I love this piece with 2 different arm options.  I included the shoulder attachments to give this jacket a winged look, though they can be left off for a more relaxed shape. It adds class to any outfit.  Soft is also color… an aqua dotted corset from TuttiFrutti and mesh shorts from Molichino add casual feminine appeal.

Finally, soft and fluffy is topping the look with not one, but two different hairs, both from Amacci.  I couldn’t decide between Amacci’s Paz and Pythia.  In a lucky accident, I added them both on together and the result was this fluffy updo with soft romantic tendrils.  I LOVE them together…it was like getting a surprise buy 2, get one free hair.  See…soft, fluffy, and flirty…it is possible.

Dance the Wild Fairy Dance

Fantasy Faire April 21-29th…NOT just for Fairies

Come and play as the wild fairies play

In a magical circle, a fairy ring.

You won’t want to leave and forever you’ll stay

Where the vision is bright as spring.

Come and dance the wild fairy dance

Spin in a circle as fast as light

Once you begin you are caught in a trance

And the world can grow old in a single night.
