Tea Party

I think the Brits have the right idea.  American girls dispense with their tea parties as a rule some time around when we outgrow our dolls and teddy bears.  It is a shame really, because we all get hungry and need a snack at about that time of the afternoon, anyway.  Secondly, the only place in the U.S. we get to wear awesome hats is to the Kentucky Derby, and if you aren’t into horse racing, or old enough to pull off wearing one to church, there just isn’t much opportunity to doll-up with girly hat included.  I’m for bringing back tea parties, with all the goodies.

Tea Time

And speaking of goodies, Circa Living’s newest delicacies simply make me hungry.  My chocolate cravings have been off the charts between the trays of chocolate drizzled croissants, muffins, and chocolate candy cups.  They were perfect for an SL garden tea party, and of course, I took the opportunity to wear a girly hat.

A Feel-Good Dress – Hope For Emilia

Molichino’s Pixie dress is such a “feel-good” dress for several reasons.  First, since Pixie is a Hope for Emilia offering,  your shopping dollars are raising funds to help Italy’s earthquake victims.  Second, I have found you simply can’t go anywhere with this dress on and not get attention and compliments.  Pixie is so well made, with quality linen, stitched seam details, and a girlish shape.  It is casual, chic and classy.

I have found the Hope for Emilia posts for Molichino’s offering wonderfully varied, as well.  It is a real testament to the versatility of this dress, as you can dress it up or down and play with many accessory accent colors.  I love clothes that let me be creative, and become new all over again, depending on the accessories I add.  Molichino’s Pixie is that kind of dress.

I chose to add some color pops to the luscious gold version I’m wearing with a LaGyo hat, Finesmith necklace, and Molichino clutch in aqua hues.  Pixie is a dress you will find yourself reaching for again and again, so pop on over to Hope for Emilia to take home your favorite colors while helping a great cause.

Belong on the cover of Vogue – MVW Day 3

On Day 3, the BIG DAY, of Miss Virtual World Academy, we were challenged to get inspired by a Vogue Cover and style as if we belonged on the cover of Vogue.

I spent a fair amount of time perusing Vogue covers to find that most of them had only a face shot.  Digging a bit further into the pages, I saw a trend towards feminine gowns this year, along with a fair amount of haute couture and avant garde.  I chose the lovely Leezu Adriana gown as my inspiration piece.  I love the interesting shape of the skirt, the modern dots, and the lovely sheen to the fabric. It further caught my eye because the wonderful shapes could lend themselves to some mix and match play in the future to create something one-of-a-kind, and I love multi-use outfits.

I accented it with pearl Donna Flora jewelry to echo the dots and combined two Amacci hairstyles into one formal updo.  With lovely White Widow makeup to finish my look, I was feeling very elegant and ready for my Vogue cover.

And the results….I did NOT pass Day 3 of MVW Academy.  My feedback, which I sought out following Day 3 was that, while I looked beautiful and I was on the right track, they did not feel they saw enough of my personality in my styling.  I suspect it would have been preferred for me to “make something new” with component pieces of several outfits or separates.  I also had a minor prim issue that I was unable to correct to my satisfaction, and this was also noted by the judges, as it effected my pose selection.

I am not daunted, by the way, that I did not graduate the first time around.  Many, in fact most, do not.  I have known excellent models in the industry who took 2, and even 3 times, to pass MVW Academy, and done exceptional work in the meantime.  So…I will be back for my own round 2 in the coming months, and hopefully doing some exceptional work myself in-between.

A Sassy little number

If there is such a thing as a casual, dressy dress, this is it.  The bodice is reminiscent of a green satin hair bow and the fresh print in cedar, orange, and lime on white is, as its name says; Sassy.  With a short under-dress accented by a floor-length bell-shaped train, and clean, contemporary lines, Sofia Gotter of Styles blurs the boundaries between casual and formal with this sassy little number, leaving the choice to you, based on how you choose to accessorize it.

I decided for a blend between casual and classy, adding cedar accents, including the Noble collar and Atomic earrings by Poulet Koenkamp of PurpleMoon, Daria ring by Donna Flora, and Wild Sandals by Finesmith.

Organic Silk – In a League of its own

League‘s new Organic Silk dress is a wonderful date-night dress that shows the curves and makes you look so touchable.  Clean with modern lines, it has such a visibly soft texture, there is no denying it is silk.  Available in 8 luxurious muted colors, I chose Goldleaf, then time-warped to the future, with Antiope hair by Wasabi Pills and bold Catwalk makeup from Tattanooga.  An added bonus..it is on special right now at COLLABOR88 for an introductory $88L until April when it will move to the League mainstore.

Emerald Isle Separates Come Together

It be that time o’ year when the wee folk dance and the lads and lassies drink green beer and everyone is Irish for a day.  And St. Patrick’s day would not be complete without a bit o’ green, brought to you by Belladonna Couture.

AbbyRose Abbot has outdone herself with a plethora of mix and match separates in Emerald Isle Green, perfect for the holiday, but also wonderful to coordinate with the pastels and brights of spring and summer.  In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Belladonna Couture is offering the full set through Saturday, March 17th, for a discounted $699L, after which they will be dissassembled into purchase separately pieces at their regular retail prices.

Two-tone Tank and Skirt

These pieces combine into a flirty St. Patrick’s Day dancing dress made up of the Two-toned off the shoulder tank and Green with Clover paneled skirt.  This tank is darling with asymetrical rusching along the empire waist and clover detail on the right shoulder.  The skirt has a hankerchief hem, longer in back than in the front, with clover stripes mixed into the two-tone panels and finished with a silver belt detail at the waist.

Pants Set

Not a clover in sight on these pieces, just a lovely spring to summer outfit that can be worn alone or split up into separates for a fresh vibrant punch of color.  Not just for the holiday, they pair strikingly with white, pastel yellow, even hot pink.  These versatile separates include a cropped jacked, wide belt-with-bow in grey and green, and green leather flared pants with back pocket details.

Short Set

Shorts do double-duty, acting as glitch pants under the skirt, but worn on their own, they have wonderful detailing including; green striped fabric, banded cuffs, slash front pockets, and back pocket detailing. Mix with the wide belt-with-bow in grey and green and the two tone tank to complete the look.

To cap off St. Patrick’s day, after a night of celebration, why not take a midnight swim in this holiday inspired bikini.  Being an Irish girl myself, I love the cute clover detailing on the low-rise bottom and left breast triangle of the top.  What a fun and sexy ensemble in which to perhaps…get lucky?
