When dreams die

I guess it is part of life, having a dream die.  Someone disappoints you.  Something you thought you could count on to always be there, suddenly isn’t.  Your body grows sick, and it feels like it has betrayed you.  You reluctantly let go of an ideal, in order to face reality.

We don’t like transitions as a rule.  We like to be here or there…something with a bit of a firm foundation, but sometimes I’ve found, I just have to ride the wave, and wait.  That is the hard part…the waiting, and holding onto the belief that things will settle out once again.  Transition is necessary though.  It is a time where you grieve what is lost, rediscover yourself, gather your resources, and then…find hope.  Most importantly during this time, I have found I have had to forgive, sometimes others, but in many cases, myself.

It is ok to let go of the past, to close the door, to turn and face a new sunrise.  To live means that some things will die, even dreams, but like a phoenix, sometimes it is from the ashes that a new dream arises.  Watch for it…it is just on the horizon.

Bouquet of Hope – Hope For Emilia

Flowers can say so many things from, “Congratulations,” to “I miss you,” to “I’m sorry,” and even, “Get Well Soon.”  This lovely flowered halter dress is a bouquet of hope…a gift you give yourself that helps Emilia earthquake victims to “Get Well” and rebuild.  The Kungler sisters have brought us a casual chic shape, filled with a garden of bright happy florals, trimmed in bold white, like a clean-lined picket fence around the flowers.  Wearing this dress you can’t help but feel all girly.

Playing with the plethora of color, I added colorful Brianna Jewelry from House of Alexander, also available only at the Hope For Emilia event, a jeweled hairband from Audacity, and bold Jean Makeup from Face Paint with full lips and sultry eye appeal.

Minty Fresh and Budding with Romance

I took this confection named Daria, by Sykao Adamski of Entre Mares, to the Rose Theatre because it was so soft and airy, I just had to twirl in it.  With a lovely smattering of tone-on-tone flowers and chiffon modesty panel and cap sleeves, this is a romantic dress for being swept off your feet.

With a soft mermaid shape to kiss the curves, low scooped back,  and long layered train, this beauty could easily be a wedding gown in white with the addition of a veil.  Fortunately for you brides-to-be, this dress also comes in a silver version, which is actually a sparkling white, despite its name.

Virtual Impressions Delphine jewelry in Silver was the perfect compliment, as the flowers in the jewelry are similiar in shape to flowers in the gown.  Finally, Naomi hair from D!va with its color-change scarf gives just a hint of accent color, while still keeping this look fresh and romantic.

Every Girl Needs a Sundress

Every girl needs a sundress, or two, or three or…..  There is nothing quite as casual, yet sexy as a short girly dress in stripes, solids, geometrics, or even satin sashed paisleys, and Blueberry‘s new Aika mesh sundress comes in all those varieties, 8 different styles and multitude of color combinations.

Here are just two of the paisley options in sherbert pretty colors.  First, the Summer in Orange with lavendar sash, a lovely color combo that is not often seen together. Paired with G Field Alex Patent Pumps with hi-heeled mary-jane styling and Exile Midnight in Paris hair with color change ribbon, I feel like such the girly-girl.

I also wanted to share Summer in Teal with orange sash, which indirectly, I had a hand in designing.  Blueberry made my day when she asked me to pick two colors that I love, and I suggested the teal and orange.  In a flash she had assembled it and passed it my way.  I was delighted and I hope you love it as much as I do.  Be sure to visit the store to see all the different designs and color combos this fun little dress comes in.

Delectable New Zaaralicious Skin

I was recently introduced to Zaaralicious Skins as a participant in the Model’s Workshop Spring Break, Spring Forward Fashion Show.  Being a bonafide skin addict, I was delighted at the quality of Zaaraliscious skins and wondered how I had missed them in my travels.  I have some beauties to share with you today, including a brand new skin introduced at the show for women of color.  I am modeling them for you in their unaltered state in some of the available skin/makeup options so you can see their beauty right out of the box.

I typically favor pale skins, so first on my list to share is the Zaara Pale Natural skin.  What I love about this skin is the fresh doe-eyed innocence it gives me.

I had the pleasure of wearing the Zaara Tan Smoke skin in the Model’s Workshop show, which comes complete with the smokey eyeliner for a sultry look.  Here is a picture of me in my MiDiS Patina Tonga swimsuit I wore for the show, which beautifully accentuates my Zaara Tan Smoke skin.

Finally, brand new to the Zaaralicious line, Oluchi Caramel Rio.  I will admit, this is the first time I have worn an ebony skin tone, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked with my shape.  It was like being introduced to a brand new me, leaving me to ask; “Who is that lovely girl in the mirror?”

Visit Zaaralicious Skins to see their full range of skin and makeup options and try the demos to find the one that’s right for you.

Get Going Now for Bargain Retro Chic

I had such fun putting together my Bargain Retro Chic look for you all today, but you must make haste, because bargains come and bargains go, and some of these wonderful deals will be gone before you know it.

From Lush Limited Apparel and Makeup, is the Just a Girl mesh striped corset.  I’ll admit, I purchased it the moment I saw it at the regular price because the bright blue and white stripes with the ruffled hem just made me smile.  Lucky you, though, if you hurry over to Lush on Thursday, March 22 you can bring it home as part of Fifty-five Linden Thursdays.

My hair and sunglasses are part of the March/Summer Abroad 1955-1960 theme going on at The Attic @ The Deck, where everything is just $95L.  To give me that retro look I was searching for, I’m wearing Exile‘s unrigged mesh hair with color-change ribbon called She Loves You and Miel Meow Peepers sunglasses from the Candy Floss pack.

Finally, by adding The Square bag in blue from Fleshtone, not on sale, but a bargain nonetheless at only $99L, and summery white harem pants with side-tie sash from the outlet at Milk Motion, I’m ready for sun-shiny days with a little pocket change still left over.
