The White Armory – Arwen Evenstar Gown and upcoming show

I recently had a fun evening out with the family to see “The Hobbit.”  This Tolkien classic in book form was my first foray into the medieval/fantasy genre back when I had just turned 13, and I have been a diehard fan or all things fantasy and magical ever since.  Noting the many cameos from some of “The Lord of the Ring” cast, I had wondered if we would also see Liv Tyler, playing Arwen, who I think makes the perfect elf. I won’t tell you if I did or I didn’t, as you may wish to see the movie, but I was nonetheless inspired to style up Bee Dumplings Arwen Evenstar gown, from The White Armory in homage.

With arm drapes reminiscent of calla lilies, floaty lavender chiffon, waterfall sleeves, and a sparkle here and there that makes me think of fireflies at dusk, this is elven glamour at its best.

And for more fantasy and fashion, mark your calendars now for The White Armory’s Winter Wonderland show, scheduled for January 19th, at 2pm.  Tp to the store, then take a teleport up to the Ice Fantasy Platform.

TWA Arwen Eventide Close

Finishing this look is delicate diamond Delphine jewelry from Virtual Impressions, matching Bouquet eye makeup from White Widow and a fancy updo from Son!a.  Although, I think I still need to add elf ears to my shopping list for the next go around.

You’re Golden

I find corsets to be simply an indispensable wardrobe accessory.  With a corset, you are golden.  You can dress it up or dress it down, but it never fails to add a touch of feminine sexy.  I used to watch a fashion series and they talked about how an article of clothing for a woman that boosts the bust, trims the waistline, and accentuates the hips was a “lock and load,” almost like readying a gun for firing…a woman is ready for anything when you “lock and load.”  A corset locks and loads in one easy piece, and looks great with everything from jeans, to lingerie, to formal gowns.

This is one of my favorite “out and about” outfits.  This outfit is casual, fun, and sexy.  I always feel chic wearing it out, and it stars a golden corset from NV Corsetry.  Lock and load, baby…lock and load.

The Runway Perfect Hunt Styling 1

I like to challenge myself sometimes to see how many of my designers I can feature in a single post.  I consider it a personal styling challenge in and of itself.  This post came together so effortlessly with 6 designers’ offerings as part of The Runway Perfect hunt, plus one lovely ethnic hair from EMO-tions. I’ve been getting compliments on this outfit all day as I’ve been out and about continuing my hunting.  The textures are luscious and the Silken Moon skin is just luminous.

Sunshine and Butterflies

With the help of a collection of Hope For Emilia designers, this outfit is all about sunshine and butterflies.  I find it an interesting combination of warm, fluttery, and fierce, starting with Miss Darcy’s sleek yellow mesh Marilyn dress in the color of Stella de Oro lilies.

Butterflies flit through the flowers of my hat and gently perch on my cheek to say hello.  Couture eyelashes from Boudoir and sweeping makeup from White Widow add a touch of exotic.   Coordinated with EMO-tions Yula hair, one of my favorite hairs for headbands, hats and other accessories, I am just a little ray of sunshine wherever I go.

Sweet Tentation by Fellini Couture

When temptation reaches a 10, you get Fellini Couture’s Tentation gown, exclusive at Hope for Emilia.  This gown just can’t be resisted with an inverted Asian-inspired shadow print and soft avant-styled leaves and branches making up the bodice.  It is both elegant and evocative in classic black and white.

In keeping with the avant theme of the dress, I blended a combination of Face Paint’s Eartha makeup with the black lip, and White Widow’s Paon in black and white, both of which are also exclusive Hope for Emilia offerings.  Capping things off, a modern shape on-hair from Urban Lutz called Cobra available at Hair Fair 2012.

Belong on the cover of Vogue – MVW Day 3

On Day 3, the BIG DAY, of Miss Virtual World Academy, we were challenged to get inspired by a Vogue Cover and style as if we belonged on the cover of Vogue.

I spent a fair amount of time perusing Vogue covers to find that most of them had only a face shot.  Digging a bit further into the pages, I saw a trend towards feminine gowns this year, along with a fair amount of haute couture and avant garde.  I chose the lovely Leezu Adriana gown as my inspiration piece.  I love the interesting shape of the skirt, the modern dots, and the lovely sheen to the fabric. It further caught my eye because the wonderful shapes could lend themselves to some mix and match play in the future to create something one-of-a-kind, and I love multi-use outfits.

I accented it with pearl Donna Flora jewelry to echo the dots and combined two Amacci hairstyles into one formal updo.  With lovely White Widow makeup to finish my look, I was feeling very elegant and ready for my Vogue cover.

And the results….I did NOT pass Day 3 of MVW Academy.  My feedback, which I sought out following Day 3 was that, while I looked beautiful and I was on the right track, they did not feel they saw enough of my personality in my styling.  I suspect it would have been preferred for me to “make something new” with component pieces of several outfits or separates.  I also had a minor prim issue that I was unable to correct to my satisfaction, and this was also noted by the judges, as it effected my pose selection.

I am not daunted, by the way, that I did not graduate the first time around.  Many, in fact most, do not.  I have known excellent models in the industry who took 2, and even 3 times, to pass MVW Academy, and done exceptional work in the meantime.  So…I will be back for my own round 2 in the coming months, and hopefully doing some exceptional work myself in-between.

A Galaxy of Color

Like molten suns twisting through a galaxy of swirling jewel tones, Faizah by Reign Congrejo of Evolve sets casual fashion ablaze.  The colors in this outfit are reminiscent of fire tones, resplendent in reds, oranges and blues.  A scrunched neck and cuffs, plus ruching along the bodice, adds further texture.  Black leather pants have muted hints of the shirt colors along the seams that make you look again to be sure they are really there.

Fashionable and versatile, I added buckled high-heeled ankle boots from Koko.  I find myself reaching for these boots again and again for casual flair because they work great with everything from pants, to leggings and even short skirts, being both a little bit dressy, and a whole lot of chic.

I found this great makeup from White Widow hiding in my inventory.  It gave me a touch of exotic with its 3-dot bindi and golden sweeping wings framing the eyes.  I added a layer of smokey blue eyeshadow from [mock] to give some added pop and contrast.  With this outfit’s matching blue beret, hair can be both simple, yet special, so I chose one of my favorite hairbases, EMO-tions Curls with face-framing tendrils.
